Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one! Dr. Seuss

Day 1
Incredible! Temps in the 80’s with brilliant sunshine and beautiful breezes! Amazing how quickly you assimilate back to summer weather!

Stayed at the Aston Waikiki Sunset Hotel, 2 blocks from the beach. It’s a one bedroom suite with pullout couch, balcony and full kitchen. (Needed the suite to accommodate all the luggage the 4 of us brought!)
Waikiki

We started the day with a run from our hotel to Diamond Head. Embrace the hill!  Elevation 762 feet! Yikes! We ran about ¾ of the way up to the top then turned around, wanting to save the top for a later walk up with B & K who were off on a walk along the beach. Our run for the morning was a hilly 5 miles; a good one for the day after traveling.
Diamond Head

We met up with Kathy, a friend of j and b’s from high school who left the snow and cold of Buffalo for Hawaii about 25 years ago. Some people have more common sense than others! The 5 of us hiked the perimeter of Diamond Head. (About a 5 miles) We had an Interesting lunch of frozen whipped bananas, asai and fruit. Our first food truck in Hawaii.

We spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach!  Wowie!! Yup I could live here! And let’s face it, I packed enough stuff. I could easily just stay!

movie is down below. Watch to the end. Its well worth it!

Dinner for 10 was at the Chart House on the harbor, where we met up with Kathy and Lou’s cousin, Lois, her husband Rich, their son Scott, and his wife Kip, and adorable 7 year old daughter Sophia. (Sophia being a 3 times Star wars viewer who definitely had the force with her! She used the force to make sure Lou had enough to drink!) We watched the gorgeous sunset from our table. Great food, great drinks and great time with family and friends! We walked the mile and a half to and from the restaurant, stopping for pics and some shopping. Got over 35,000 steps for the day! Definitely earned another glass of wine back at the hotel. (Blame Sophia and the force!) Okole hau! (bottoms up!)

What a great day! And the best part was there are so many more to come!
